Schottky diodes

Haiben is an electronic components supplier based in Shenzhen, China, founded in 2013. Alongside our own-brand Weforsemi line, we stock diode families that cover rectification, small-signal switching and transient protection. This page sets out how a schottky diode behaves, which Schottky and switching parts we carry, where they are typically used, and how to write one into a BOM.
What a Schottky diode does differently
A schottky diode — properly, a Schottky barrier diode — forms its junction from a metal in contact with a semiconductor rather than from a p-n junction. Two behaviours follow. First, forward voltage drop is lower than a comparable p-n diode, so less energy is lost as heat when current flows. Second, reverse recovery is very fast, because there is no minority-carrier storage to clear at turn-off. The trade-off is reverse leakage that rises with temperature and reverse voltage ratings generally lower than p-n rectifiers, so a Schottky suits low-voltage, high-frequency or efficiency-sensitive paths rather than high-voltage blocking. On a schematic the part may appear as "schottky diode" or "Schottky barrier diode"; both names describe the same device family, and we stock both descriptions under one range.
The stocked range, by package and current
Our Weforsemi line lists Schottky parts from sub-1 mm surface-mount packages up to SOD-123FL, with current classes from 100 mA to 2 A.
Surface-mount Schottky
- VCDS24WZ — SOD-123FL, Vrrm 40 V, IF(AV) 2 A. The largest current option in the stocked Schottky range and the part we point to for the schottky rectifier use case.
- VCRB520S-30B — SOD-523, 30 V, 200 mA small-signal SMD Schottky.
- VC5819THX — SOD-523, 350 mA, 150 mW, low forward voltage drop, guard-ring construction for transient protection, low reverse recovery time and low reverse capacitance.
- VC520S8-30F — SOD-882, 150 mW, low Vf.
- VC103AWSB — SOD-323, 200 mW, low forward voltage, marking S4.
- VC521S6-30X — DFNWB0603-2L, 100 mA-class versatile Schottky barrier diode, IFSM 0.5 A.
Switching diodes in the same pull
Where a signal path needs speed rather than low drop, our range includes fast switching parts: VC1N4148WB (SOD-123, IF(AV) 150 mA, IR 1 uA, fast switching, plastic surface-mounted package with 2 leads; a platform listing classes it at Vr 75 V), VC1N4148WTB (SOD-523, 100 V fast switching diode, ultra-small surface-mount package, high conductance, general-purpose switching) and VC4148K (LL-34, glass-sealed epitaxial silicon switching diode, planar structure). More package options are listed under SMD diodes.
For transient and ESD events we stock TVS parts including VCTB3V32515LC (DFN0603-2L, bidirectional, 3.3 V, 80 W peak pulse power, 8 A peak pulse current, IEC 61000-4-2 at +/-30 kV air and contact, 0.6x0.3x0.3 mm, very low capacitance, nA-level leakage), VCTU7V550F3S (DFN1610-2L, 7 V, 1600 W, 80 A), VCLT550-YW (SOD-323, 350 W at 8/20 us, low clamping voltage, RoHS compliant, matte tin Pb-free finish), VCTB5V0P215YW and VCTB24V0P415FSL (both DFN0603-2L).
Where these parts get used
- Low-voltage power rails and DC-DC output rectification, where the 2 A VCDS24WZ's low forward drop reduces losses.
- Reverse-polarity and OR-ing protection on board inputs, using the SOD-123FL part or the SOD-523 devices where space is tight.
- Clamping and signal steering around connectors and data lines, where VC5819THX's guard-ring construction and low reverse capacitance are relevant.
- General-purpose switching and logic-level signal paths with the 1N4148-type parts.
- ESD and surge protection of data or power lines with the TVS range above.
- Higher-current mains-side rectification with rectifier diodes such as the 1N5400 through 1N5408 series (DO-27, 3 A, voltage grades from 50 V to 1000 V).
Specifying a Schottky diode for your BOM
Work through five figures before you commit a line item: reverse voltage (Vrrm with margin over the worst-case rail), average and peak forward current, forward drop at your actual operating current and temperature, reverse leakage at your maximum ambient, and package footprint against your layout. Check derating for leakage, since it climbs with temperature, and confirm the package thermal pad or lead area suits your reflow profile. If you are replacing a 1N5819, our 1N5819 cross reference maps package and rating equivalents. Send us your ratings and quantities and we will confirm what the Weforsemi line covers.
Frequently asked questions
Is a Schottky barrier diode the same as a schottky diode?
Yes. "Schottky barrier diode" is the full name of the same device family; our range is listed under both terms, and the datasheet title is the authority for a specific part.
Can Haiben supply a Schottky diode for a 2 A rectifier position?
Yes — the Weforsemi VCDS24WZ is a 40 V, 2 A surface-mount Schottky in SOD-123FL, supplied for low-forward-drop rectification.
Do you supply third-party branded diodes as an authorised channel?
No. We supply our own-brand Weforsemi line and stock parts under the terms confirmed at quotation; we do not claim authorised distribution of any third-party brand.
